Alan has been a Lifestyles member for almost four years and in that time, he has made a huge impact on the community.
At 65, Alan takes part in Spin classes three times per week and works extremely hard. He also enjoys using the gym too. To celebrate turning 65 this year, he decided to take on a series of three challenges with the intention of raising at least £650 – £10 for each year of his life – and donate it to The Coventry Samaritans.
In order to take on the three challenges, Alan utilised the gym and classes like Spin and HIIT in a way that could prepare him for the physically and mentally challenging events.
Alan is passionate about the charity and finds it hard to believe how many people take their own lives each year. He would like to help make a change to this with his active challenges.
Alan’s challenges consisted of the Coventry Half Marathon, climbing Snowdon and a Jurassic Coast 100K trek. Alan continued to raise money after reaching his target of £650. He is currently trekking through Vietnam, just to add to his already impressive list.
A grand total of £1,557.50 has been raised by Alan and his great sporting efforts.
Alan said he would not have been able to achieve what he has without the support and encouragement from staff at CV Life, in particular, Kim and Michael from the Xcel Leisure Centre and Jess from Centre AT7. They have driven him towards getting physically fit for all his challenges.
Challenges like this require hard work and motivation, and by using the facilities and support that is available to Lifestyle members, you can achieve your dreams.
