Are you looking for somewhere to get those full lengths in during your swim? Look no further, we have you covered!
Later this year, we’ll be opening an amazing new swimming facility at The Alan Higgs Centre – we can’t wait for the big opening!
Our new 50 metre Olympic sized pool will offer swimmers all the space they need to get those full lengths in, whether you are doing your usual work-out, or training for an event. Not only have you got a giant pool, you will be able to make use of all the facilities even the most ambitious swimmers need to improve their skills.
We are already incredibly proud of the £10.5 million pool and the facilities that come with it. The new facilities include a spectator gallery for 500 people, a health suite with a jacuzzi and sauna room and education and function rooms where visitors can learn more about their favourite aquatic activities.
On top of this, you will also be able to make use of the center’s new 3G indoor and outdoor FIFA accredited football pitches, an even bigger and better gym and the new Cofa’s Café Bar for drinks and snacks.
We’ll be putting together a full schedule of swimming sessions and lessons, along with water sport activities and a whole list of galas and events to get involved in.
We’ve shifted enough soil to fill 46,875 bath tubs in order to install the concrete frame of the pool, and we’re already getting down to the water tests to make sure everything is water-tight.
The new 50 metre pool is also coming at a time where the city is celebrating being named European City of Sport 2019, providing the perfect platform to inspire future swimmers or gym goers to try out the new facilities.
The new Olympic sized pool will be right at the heart of a community we are proud to be a part of. We’re always trying to make The Alan Higgs Centre more attractive and more approachable for everyone who uses it. Offering people access to such wonderful facilities is a real pleasure for us.
Watch this space for news of how we’re getting on with construction, see you at the grand opening!
